Roller skating club skates to success with Middlesbrough Lottery

With club members recently competing in the British dance championships, Tees Valley Roller Skating Club is going from success to success with help from the Middlesbrough Lottery.

Formed 24 years ago, the club teaches the basics of roller skating to anyone who wishes to learn – from the ages of 4 to 74. 

If a skater develops a passion for the sport, they can then progress on to learning artistic roller skating and eventually compete in galas, festivals and even national competitions all over the country.

Tees Valley Roller Skating Club has been a part of the Middlesbrough Lottery for over a year now, and they’ve raised almost £700. These funds are spent on equipment, competitions and coaching courses, enabling club coach Julia Hudson-Bailey to nurture more and more successful roller skaters from Middlesbrough.

Julia said: “We feel great to be part of the Middlesbrough Lottery, helping others and improving the lives of people in our area.

“We joined last summer because it enables us to raise more funds for the club, keeping us going whilst also helping Middlesbrough. 

“We have skaters from Middlesbrough communities who come to our sessions and meet people who they would otherwise never have met. This fosters a community spirit, and the sport keeps people active as they gain confidence in learning a new skill at the same time.”

“We are so very grateful to those people who have chosen to support our special club, helping us to continue to grow.”
